DREAMING WITH ART AND WRITING:

Artists of all ages are invited to create an artistic representation around the themes of where we have been and where we are going as a community.

Capture your vision in poetry, essay, visual art, performing art or film.

The collected works will be enjoyed by people throughout the community and will inform the visioning process as we plan for the year 2020.

GUIDELINES:

(All entries must be original works. Anyone living in the Pikes Peak region is eligible. There are no entry fees)

Visual Art Entries:

- All submissions must reflect the contest theme

- On entry per person or group, per category

- For entries in the 13 or older categories, 2-D pieces must be gallery-ready (framed, matted and wired.) No sawtooth hangers, please, 3-D pieces must be ready for display. No pieces that require assembly.

- Entries for the 12 and under category must be mounted on construction paper for display.

Literary Entries

- All submissions must reflect the contest theme.

- One entry per person or group, per category

- Length of film or performance pieces must not exceed 12 minutes. Post entry on YouTube and send a link to dreambig@dreamcity2020.com.

SUBMISSIONS

Visual Art Entries: Drop off Sept. 15-22 at East Library, 5550 N. Union Blvd., or Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave. (NOTE THAT THIS IS A CHANGE FROM ORIGINAL DROP OFF LOCATION!) Electronic visual art entries can be sent to dreambig@dreamcity2020.com.

Literary Entries: E-mail by 4 p.m. Sept. 22 to dreambig@dreamcity2020.com.

Film and Performance Entries: Submit via YouTube link by 4 p.m. Sept. 22 to dreambig@dreamcity2020.com.

Three winners will be announced in each category (visual art, poetry, essay and performance/film) for each age group. Additional pieces will be selected for inclusion in exhibitions, online galleries and project publications. Entrants will be notified of the jury’s deicison via e-mail by Sept. 30.

All entrants will be invited to attend exhibitions, readings and screenings.

PRIZES: There will be hundreds of dollars of prize money awarded, as well as passes for movies and Mr. Biggs. Specific details will soon be announced.

Ages 12 and younger; 12-17 and 18 and older.

EXHIBITS
Exhibitions will be held at the Fine Arts Center Modern, community sites and Pikes Peak Library locations October, 2008 to May 2009. (Specific dates to be announced.)

PUBLIC RECEPTIONS
Awards presentation exhibit opening: 3-5 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave.
